Master key imobliser problem, ok with spare "normal" key SOLVED

Hi all,

About 1 week into ownership of the 2005 M59 (with "Modutop") and loving it. No downside and, after the VW Campervan, the performance / MPG on the 2.0HDi is a revelation.

However, today a slight problem. that could have been a "breakdown".

Yesterday, I carefully replaced the worn out plastics on the electronic key. No drama there = very straightforward in fact.
Went to the car, remote unlock & lock tested = all ok.
Tried to start the car, it turns over fine but no sign of it firing.
Almost on a whim, I went into the house and got the "non electronic" key.
It worked fine.
I then did a re-set of the "electronic" key, as per the manual, though I thought "this is a waste of time because the remote "lock & unlock" is working". And it was a waste of time.

The "non electronic" key's "shaft" looks exactly the same (well it would, wouldn't it).

I would be ever so grateful if anyone throw any light on this ?
