Electric passenger mirror

Berlingo, 2006 model.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had fixed the electric passenger mirror? The remote control on it is not working. I have checked the fuses although I have struggling to find the exact right one but all those in the internal fusebox seem fine. I am uncertain if the heated mirror part of it is also faulty and may be related. I have disconnected the wiring harness behind the remote control switch and checked that the red wire has 12v and it does, this would imply that a voltage supply is at least getting to the control switch. The ground cable to the socket is also continuous to the chassis. On the wing mirror I cannot get a reading on the two wires that supply the power for the heated mirror element. I have looked at the two motors that via a small gear and ratchet move the mirror around but they just sit there doing nothing.

It may be a common earth problem that is affecting both the heater and the motors. I am stuck as to how to trace the common earth and where it attaches to the chassis.

If anyone has tackled this before, figured out how it works and got it going again I would be really grateful for any tips, ideas or hints.

Many thanks

Giles

ECU And BSI swap

Hi Guys, I have recently bought a 2003 berlingo van. 1.9 D. Engine code WJY.
I had a problem with the  MOT, as the STOP light on the dash would not go off and constantly beeped. The fuel gauge also didnt work and wipers were a bit dodgy. I had a auto electrician out to the van and he diagnosed the ECU & BSI unit was faulty. These were replaced along with the ignition barrel and key. it all seems to have solved the problems with the electrical things that were faulty, but the van will not start now, it turns over, and sounds like it wants to start but it will not fire.I have been told that there is a coded valve or something simular on the fuel pump !!!!
I would really like to know any ideas or knowledge any body has on this subject, as i need the van for work and its just sat on my drive with no MOT or tax(SORN) i cant move it to take it to a garage because it has no tax and i cant take it for an MOT because it wont start AAAGHHHH  !!!!!!!
Please help.
Cheers Guys many thanks in advance for help.

Hi all. Just bought used M-S Forte 1.6hdi 2006.Lovely to drive. Went in for full service, drove home and car will not even turn over completely cut out... Diagnostics said take off battery leads for 20 minutes reconnect. It worked. 2 more days same thing again. Would not turn over completely dead. This time battery disconnection did not work. Diagnostics said try other key and it worked. Remote locking locks but has never unlocked. Now going through test the keys to see if they work and then engine diagnostics. No fault codes coming up. The crappy bit of tin covering the ECU in my 2.0 HDI COMBI is badly corroded. I can see one nut in plain view, which loosens the part, but something out of sight is holding it at the back. I'm sure it's a simple arrangement, but I can't see what's holding it.

Hi I am new to the forum, which has been loads of help already reading previous posts, and would like to say hi and thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me with a few problems on my 55 reg 1.9d Berlingo enterprise van.

Got this van with no lights and wipers, thought easy fix.....HA.....any ways new (used)  bsi and comms 2000 unit later and no change......still no lights and wipers.....tried comms reset, no luck

Here's the main problems

Have side lights
No main beam
No high beam
Flash works ok
No wipers
No windscreen washer
No rev counter
No heater
Radio is missing
Rear lights all ok inc reverse
Indicators all ok inc hazard lights
Eco mode on display
Engine management light on
Abs light works as should
Brake warning light works as should

After engine running for a couple of minutes.....all dials in dashboard fall to bottom and dash lights go off.....

Van mechanically is perfect, starts on button everytime, stops as should, though the looks to be water staining near exhaust manifold from a possible prev water leak or blown head gasket....I know the van has had a recent gearbox and clutch replacement and along with faulty lights and wipers....thought was worth investing in as good clean van

Last week it's had a bsi unit change.....no difference......also changed fuse board.....no difference.....HOWEVER!!!...remove fuse board and lights works on main beam and wipers work once then stop......weird

Comms 2000 unit changed and reset.....no difference

Can only ASSUME that problem may be a complete Ecu software wipe or reset......or complete replacement with new keys

If anyone can help or has a Ecu and keys for sale or can guide or help me to upgrade software I would be most grateful

Thanks....richard

I have a berlingo 2003 1.4I multispace was working 100%

When I turn the key to on the relay under the bonnet buzzes

Then when I turn it to start the car the buzzing stops but nothing happens

Then when I let the key return to on the relay starts buzzing again

So in my mind the relay is faulty and that means changing the circuit board but I would like any other suggestions as to what it could be or what could of caused it in the first place.

Could it be something else that's making the relay do this?

Thanks in advance

Evening all

New the forum and berlingo's

Had my 52 plate 1.9d for 3 months now and decided a to upgrade the stereo as the one the previous owner had installed was naff. After reading various things about the correct way to wire up and Iso leads I opted for an interface kit. Installed the kit correctly and all was good, control stalk worked as it should. This was Friday, not been in the van all wkend until this morn, put the stereo face plate on turned it on, all was fine briefly. No music, looked down at the stereo and the volume was on 0. Turned the volume up on the stereo but a quick as I turned it up it went down to 0 again. I've turned it off, unplugged and sworn at it but no change. This is were I need your help, has anybody experienced this before or anything Simlar? Could it be a faulty control stalk? Faulty stereo? Any help or suggestions would be great.

Many thanks

Will

Just a heads up. I've been getting a smell of fumes in my van when I'm stationary in traffic. Turns out I have a leaky injector. When I looked at the injector there is a build up a carbon around the base of it. Will be getting this fixed very soon.

Air con help needed please

Hi
I am new here so please excuse any errors in posting .
I have a Multispace desire with a problem with the air conditioning or rather with the compressor not activating in positions 3 and 4 on the blower .If I turn fan onto position 1 or 2 and switch the a/c on it works fine but if I increase the blower speed the compressor switches off until the fan is back in position 1 or 2 .  The system is fully gassed and working normally in every other way  and the heating and fan all work normally . I was wondering if it could be as simple as the fan switch itself but thought I would post this and see if any other members had any ideas  please .

Aircon condenser leaking :o(

Haven't been on the forum for ages, mainly due to our Berlingo (2006 1.6hdi) being such a trouble-free motor. Unfortunately the aircon condenser gas sprung a leak and needs replacing. Aircon guy reckons supply, fit, regas = £250+vat. Online condenser prices seem to be anywhere between around £60 and £120, but how does that price seem? Apparently there's a fair amount of work involved in fitting a replacement.

water in rear underfloor storage

$

Hi, I am really stuck with this one. I accidentally got a lot of water into the passengers' side rear underfloor storage (forgot to close the window! doh!). I took out the liner and the soundproofing and dried it all out, along with all the bodywork under it. But, some of the water has gone through the hole and under the floor where the front passenger seat is. The soundproofing spongy material is wet under there and I have no idea how to get to it to dry it out. I have left the compartment open but it doesn't seem to be drying out. Any ideas would be appreciated because it is starting to smell.

Stiff Clutch Pedal, Low Bite Point

$

Hi.
New to the forum - In nov 2015 I bought my Boss's Spare Berlingo Van 2.0 600HDI, Manual, 2003 registered (Which at the time was ideal, as invariably there's only ever me "In it" and I needed more space, carrying various items to & from the boatyard)

Despite doing just a tad over 100,000 I've been pleased enough with it - it drives smooth as one would expect for age & mileage covered, The Engine is as quiet as one would expect for a Diesel.

I am partially disabled (Left leg shorter than right, hip damage) and usually own automatics, but as I've now changed where I live, The bulk of the runs I now do is long runs, so I can "get away" with owning a manual.

When I first owned the van, driving it, I didn't feel too bad - the clutch bite was high enough and I managed to be able to engage & change gear fairly high up the pedal travel. Recently in the last month or so I've noticed the clutch becoming stiffer to operate, and the clutch pedal resting point being a good 2-3 inches higher than the brake pedal, which means I cannot now take my foot off the clutch to rest when driving.

I've had a local garage look at it and they replaced the cable but this ended up making no difference and now the bite point is virtually on the floor. They've worked on it again today and decided to re-fit my old cable to attempt to revert it to it's old setup (where I could engage the clutch & change gear fairly high up). This has made no difference to how it was when they changed the cable initially.

They've said if the cable doesn't help, then it will be the "fingers" at fault - I don't want to un-necessarily spend £300-£500 on replacing the clutch when this potentially could have no affect at all.

Can somebody help with some opinion?
